Cry of the Giraffe, by Judie Oron

Share |

Cry of the Giraffe (Annick Press) is Judie Oron's telling of the true story of Ethiopian Jews forced to flee the country and face a perilous journey to Jerusalem, their spiritual homeland.

Wuditu, a 13-year-old girl, was separated from her family and taken as a slave in the early 1980s. But her life was endangered when her identity was discovered. Judie Oron, a Toronto-based journalist who was involved in the escape of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, risked her own life to help save Wuditu, but this is Wuditu's story.
