Annick Podcast with Mariatu Kamara

When Mariatu Kamara was a child, she lived with her family in a small village in Sierra Leone. When she was 12 years old, she was attacked by rebel soldiers. In The Bite of the Mango (Annick Press), journalist Susan McClelland has written Mariatu’s story of the attack, its aftermath and her eventual arrival in Toronto. Now 22 years old, Mariatu will embark this year on a North American speaking tour as a UNICEF Special Representative for Children in Armed Conflicts. A documentary about her life is in development.
